What a great turnout! Thank you to all who attended our January 12th free fertility education seminar hosted by Dr. Pei-Li Huang — our first seminar of 2017. We began with a game of “Fertility Bingo”, which created a great atmosphere and flowing conversation.
As each fertility term was addressed, our attendees opened up to create a lively and open environment of fertility education.
During each seminar, we discuss many topics. Topics are formulated by the participants, so each seminar is unique. Our January seminar focused on the following areas:
Same-sex family building – There are so many options for everyone who would like to build a family. In a same-sex relationship, there are specific discussions that must be addressed. Some examples include: sperm (donor or frozen donor), egg donor, IUI (intrauterine insemination), who will carry the baby (partner or a gestational carrier) and reciprocal mothering.
Same-sex financial options – Definition of Infertility/Patient Requirements – Infertility means the condition of an individual who is unable to conceive or produce conception during a period of one year if the female is age 35 or younger or during a period of 6 months if the female is over the age of 35. For purposes of meeting the criteria for infertility in this section, if a person conceives but is unable to carry that pregnancy to live birth, the period of time she attempted to conceive prior to achieving that pregnancy shall be included in the calculation of the 1-year or 6-month period. This definition does create a different challenge for same-sex couples. In order to prove the attempt of conception, the procedure must be medically recorded. At Fertility Solutions, we offer very financially beneficial IUI plans.
How does a single Mom plan a conception? As a single parent, the process begins with a consultation to determine the best option, since each person and each circumstance is unique, an individualized plan will be developed. The process can begin with IUI and donor sperm or at times an IVF cycle is recommended. No matter the fertility plan, a conversation with your Fertility Specialist is the best way to begin the process.
Can I have a baby after a Tubal Ligation? Yes, but there are many things to consider. The type of reversal, the age of the woman trying to conceive and male factor. Again, each person is unique and a consultation with a board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist is the most effective way to determine the best plan of action for each individual.
